Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Offers:

  • More fresh, seasonal, nutrient-dense food in our bodies.

  • Less food-driven environmental impact.
  • An ability to directly know how and where your food comes from.
  • A connection to how food used to be grown that I believe can inspire us to pay more attention to our health and planet.
  • Support of local food sovereignty ... in our back yard.  The more small scale farmers we have locally, the less we depend on broader supply chains.
  • Food brings people and communities together.
  • Damn. Good. Food.

What You Get

Weekly &

Bi-weekly Seasonal

Vegetable Shares from

Mid-June - Early Nov*

Pick-Up at Farm likely on Thursdays or Fridays.  Details TBD

Two Options:

  1. Weekly Share (~20 shares)

  2. Bi-Weekly Share (every other week; ~10 shares)

Shares will be different each week, depending on the week and what is fresh in the field.

  • Early season (Jun) shares are heavy in lettuces and greens, as that is what is available.

  • Mid season shares (July-Aug) are typically bigger with emphasis on hot season crops like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, etc., as it is the height of the season.

  • Late season (Sep-Oct) are cooler season greens and roots and storage crops like squash, potatoes and onions.

*Approximate timeframe. The weather and nature have the final say.

Four Seasonally-
Inspired Recipies

A common question I get is how best to use all this beautiful, seasonal produce. Our goal is to get more veggies onto your plate as easily as possible. As a mom of two younger kids, one of which is a picky eater [insert: mom grumble], I am also challenged with recipe selection that attempts to bridge the gap and get some of the good stuff in my kids.

To that end, we provide recipe inspiration - most dishes can be made in ~30 mins.

Each share will offer both fresh-eating veggies (carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.) and ideas to include them in dishes.

Optional - But Encouraged - Monthly 2-Hour Volunteering*

"You have to get your hands dirty if you want to change things"

- elena ferrante (pseudonymous author)

It might go without saying, but farm work isn't always glamorous. [chuckle]

However, it can be healing, invigorating, calming, and satisfying. If you've never pulled a carrot directly from the ground, ran if briefly under a hose, then eaten it...you need to. Hand models need not apply. No intended hand-model shade, it just doesn't jive with diggin' in the dirt.

All this to say ... don't knock it till you

try it.

AND, you'll get your share for Free that week.

Cost

BFF is excited to announce a 10% discount on our first full season CSA. Although we've been growing for market for 3 years, this is the first to offer a larger scale CSA to more people.

Shares are $45 each or

$900 for 20 weeks or

$450 for 10 weeks

The CSA model is a partnership between you and your farmer.  Growing healthy food requires many skills, but luck and weather typically end up holding the cards. There are crop successes & failures every year.  You are rewarded with the bounty of our collective success, with an understanding of the uncertainty mother nature brings...to the table.

Most farmers receive little income from Nov-June, yet incur expenses like seeds, amendments, compost, propagation supplies and labor to begin the growing season in Jan & Feb.  CSA subscriptions and payments during this time help farmers determine growing quantities and fund early season costs.
